BGMI Air is the name now shown on the official Google Play application linked from Krafton’s BGMI Lite pre-registration notice. Indian Android players can reach that listing through the operator’s website. The developer describes optional extra downloads, use of an existing BGMI account and play with friends on BGMI, while continuing to target a launch later in 2026.
The name change was reported on October 15 as Krafton prepared its lighter version of Battlegrounds Mobile India. For players considering a second app, the useful question is what becomes lighter and what remains connected to the main game. The current developer description gives more concrete answers about storage choices and accounts than the new name alone.
The official route now leads to BGMI Air
Krafton’s August 25 notice says pre-registration is open on Google Play and links to application ID com.krafton.bgmilite. That same application page now carries the title BGMI Air and identifies KRAFTON, Inc. as the developer. Following the link from the official notice provides a route to the renamed game without treating a similarly named search result as the operator’s application.
On an eligible Android device and Google Play account, players can open that official listing and use the pre-registration option if offered for their account. The unauthenticated web view checked for this article described pre-registration but did not display an enrolment control. No enrolment was performed, and the existence of the public page does not establish availability for every account, device or country.
A lighter download with choices after installation
The store description says no additional mandatory package is required before the first match after downloading the app. Extra modules can be chosen, downloaded and later removed according to what the player uses. This makes the proposed difference a matter of download control as well as the initial app: keeping fewer optional resources can reduce what a player chooses to store. It is a developer description, rather than a storage measurement from a finished installation.
Krafton also says players can log in with an existing BGMI account and keep using owned items, and can team up with friends on the main BGMI app. Those promises connect the lighter application to an existing account and squad. The store describes classic Erangel and 100-player play, but this article has not tested cross-app matchmaking, item access or performance on a low-end phone.
What players can decide before launch
Both the original notice and current listing point to release later this year, without an exact launch day in the checked official text. No specific minimum RAM, final download size, frame rate or iOS launch is established here. Players can therefore use the official Android route to express interest, while leaving the decision to replace a working installation until the released app’s compatibility and behaviour can be checked on their own device.
The substantiated proposition is a lighter app built around optional downloads while retaining links to the player’s BGMI account and friends. That is a useful design choice for people managing device storage, but it is not yet proof of a particular speed or storage saving. Pre-registration is the available step now; the meaningful test at release will be how those promised choices work on the device the player actually uses.
Krafton’s August25 notice and the current Indian English Google Play listing were read directly. The same application ID now shows BGMI Air.
