Bangladesh were 38/4 after 10 overs against Afghanistan in the senior men’s ODI at Sharjah on 21 October 2026, according to the ICC scorecard checked at 5:57 pm India time. Yamin Ahmadzai and Azmatullah Omarzai had taken two wickets each, all within the opening seven overs. The match was still in its first innings; this is a report on that opening phase.
The match is the third game of the Afghanistan–Bangladesh–Zimbabwe ODI tri-series in the UAE, at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. FanCode lists a 5 pm India start. Bangladesh’s opening seven overs left its middle order facing an immediate rebuilding task, giving this league match a very different start from a routine batting powerplay.
Bangladesh’s first four wickets

|---|---|---|---|
| 1.2 | 6/1 | Tanzid Hasan · 1 | Yamin Ahmadzai |
| 1.3 | 6/2 | Soumya Sarkar · 0 | Yamin Ahmadzai |

| 7.0 | 28/4 | Towhid Hridoy · 0 | Azmatullah Omarzai |
ICC match scorecard. Over notation is completed overs plus balls: 1.2 means one over and two balls, not 1.2 decimal overs. These are fixed early-innings events.
Two early wickets, then two more in the seventh over
Ahmadzai removed Tanzid Hasan for one at 1.2 overs and bowled Soumya Sarkar for nought on the next ball. Both wickets fell with the total on six. The ICC fall-of-wickets table therefore records 6/1 and 6/2 on consecutive deliveries in the second over.
Omarzai then dismissed Najmul Hossain Shanto for 15 at 6.4 overs, with the total 27, before removing captain Towhid Hridoy for nought at the end of the seventh over. Bangladesh had moved to 28/4. The scorecard establishes the sequence; it does not by itself establish a pitch problem or explain every batting decision.
This is the final league fixture of the ODI tri-series
After the fourth wicket, Saif Hassan and Parvez Hossain Emon took Bangladesh through to 10 overs without another loss. At the 5:57 pm India-time check, Saif had 15 and Emon nought, with Afghanistan yet to bat. The official link below carries subsequent deliveries; the 38/4 score in this report is a dated snapshot.
ICC’s published schedule identifies 21 October as the last league fixture, after Bangladesh–Zimbabwe on 17 October and Afghanistan–Zimbabwe on 19 October. The top two teams advance to the 23 October final. An early collapse does not determine either today’s winner or the final standings, so those outcomes should be read from the completed match and updated table.

The confirmed story so far is Afghanistan’s four-wicket start, with the rest of the match still to decide.
