Cyberpunk 2077’s Edgerunners 2 update, version 2.5, is free for owners of the base game and can be played with an existing save. Phantom Liberty and the Ultimate Edition are not required. The new quests still have progression requirements: Clampdown needs The Heist and two Wakako gigs completed, while Welcome to Paradise requires The Heist and Street Cred level 15.

CD Projekt Red released the update on 22 October 2026, adding another reason for players to return to Night City. For someone reopening a long-running character, the useful distinction is between being eligible for the update and being eligible for a particular quest. The publisher’s FAQ says a new playthrough is unnecessary; its detailed patch notes explain why new content may nevertheless not appear immediately.

Clampdown requires The Heist plus two Wakako gigs, then her message. Welcome to Paradise requires The Heist plus Street Cred 15. Console modded saves cannot earn achievements or trophies.

The two quests have different entry conditions

For Clampdown, finish The Heist and complete two gigs for Wakako, then wait for her message. The quest is presented as a prequel to Edgerunners 2, and a five-piece King gear set can be acquired during it. A player who has completed The Heist but has not done the required gigs should follow that missing step rather than restart the campaign in the hope of triggering the message.

Welcome to Paradise has a different gate: completion of The Heist plus Street Cred level 15. Street Cred is the requirement named in the patch notes, so the character’s ordinary level should not be substituted for it. Keeping the two quest requirements separate gives returning players a short check against their current progress before looking for new missions.

Choose mods separately from the free update

The update also adds cosmetic cyberware options through Glamdoc vendors and a mod.io-based Mods menu. Those features should not be treated as the same kind of change. Cosmetic choices are part of the update; choosing to use player-created mods has a further consequence on consoles: modded saves cannot earn achievements or trophies, according to the patch notes.

The publisher describes connected PC, Mac versions sold through Steam, GOG or Epic, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S installations receiving the update through their platform’s update process. After updating, use the existing playthrough and check its quest progress. If considering the Mods menu, decide first whether achievements matter for that save. The updated save browser groups saves by playthrough and marks modded saves with an icon, which helps distinguish them before continuing.

Platform rollout wording remains inconsistent

There is a timing mismatch in the official material for Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mac App Store. The FAQ and 21 October notes describe a later rollout, while the 22 October launch post lists the named platforms as available. Those pages do not establish a consistent storefront-specific release date. This guide therefore does not promise a separate launch date for either version; the installed version and that platform’s update screen remain the relevant availability check.

For a returning player, the practical route is to keep the existing character, meet the missing quest prerequisites and make a separate choice about mods. The free-update entitlement does not remove progression gates, and installing mods is not required to reach the two quests. The next official changes worth watching are any correction to platform rollout wording or to the quest and mod conditions themselves.
